NNP+ holds demand generation meet

Network of Naga People Living with HIV/AIDS (NNP+), Kohima, has organised a Demand Generation Meeting (DGM) at Pungro town with support of Solidarity and Action Against the HIV & Infection in India (SAATHII) and European Union (EU) on March 26.
Addressing the meeting, EAC Pungro, Chonpenthung, encouraged the communities to come out and stand for their rights and also highlighted about the schemes and entitlements from various departments. He also informed the participants about the State Legal Services Authority who would be there to give free legal services and assistance. 
Yuksilem, Supervisor of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Pungro, capacitated the participants by highlighting the schemes and benefits that could be availed by the communities after forming Self Help Groups like the livestock poultry development scheme, piggery, duckery, goatery and poultry farming. 
Shenlithong, Supervisor of Social Welfare Department, Pungro, highlighted on schemes that were available in the department and encouraged the eligible participants to apply for schemes like Integrated Child Development Scheme, Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Schemes, Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme and also assured to extend every possible help and assistance.
Representatives from SAATHII, NNP+, District AIDS Prevention Control Unit and Kiphire Network of Positive People shared about their programmes and activities at block, district, state and national levels during the meeting. 
A total of 45 individuals participated at the meeting, out of which 37 participants were people affected by HIV and most at risk populations.
