No compensation to be paid for road construction: NFHRCC

The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) along with apex tribal hohos have unequivocally reaffirmed that no compensation would be paid to any individual/clan/village for Foothills Road construction.
This was resolved at a joint consultative meeting of the NFHRCC along with the Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho and Sumi Hoho on the ongoing Foothills Road construction under SASCI at the Ao Senden headquarters, Mokokchung on Thursday. In a statement NFHRCC convener Supu Jamir, co-convener Hokiye Yepthomi, secretary W Lemba Chang and assistant general secretary Chenithung Humtsoe said that the meeting also cautioned that in the event of violation, the hohos along with the NFHRCC would take stern action whosoever it might be.
Further, the meeting directed all contractors/firms, whoever got work order for constructions of the Foothills Road under SASCI, to sign implementation agreement with the NFHRCC under any circumstances within a period of three days from the date of publication of this news, i.e., on or before January 20, 2025.
Failing which, the organisations declared that the particular firm would not be allowed to execute the work with the jurisdiction of the three hohos.
The meeting further resolved that in the event of non-signing of implementation agreement with the NFHRCC within the stipulated time frame (on or before January 20),
the hohos along with the committee would press upon the department concerned to immediately cancel the work order and issue new work orders to the deserving firms, so as to survive the historic road project.
Noting that the working season was running out, the organisations warned that in the event of any unfortunate situations occurring, the defaulting firms/contractors would be answerable to Naga public.
