No gatherings without permission: Dimapur Police

DIMAPUR, JUN 4 (NPN): Dimapur police have reiterated that prior written permission was mandatory for any public gathering, rally or democratic protest within the district. In a notice, Dimapur police PRO said the police department fully respects the democratic right of citizens to assemble peacefully and express their views. However, it emphasized that maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety and preventing disruption to traffic and commercial activities were equally important. The notice stated that organisers of any public gathering, rally or protest must obtain prior written permission from CP office, cautioning that failure to obtain prior permission would be viewed as an unlawful assembly. It also reminded the public that all forms of public gatherings were strictly prohibited at Clock Tower, Dimapur as per government order.
