No support to any rival NPF group: Cong

NPCC reiterated the stand taken by its Political Affairs Committee(PAC) that the ongoing political crisis was “purely an internal power struggle among NPF leaders” who had abdicated their responsibilities to their people in their “lust for power.”
Media cell of NPCC maintained that its statement was to dispel any notion that Congress was “tacitly supporting or aiding any group” so as to set all speculations and assumptions at rest.
NPCC revealed that though Congress was approached by both rival NPF groups to bail them out, it chose to maintain its stand that the “internal fight of the NPF cannot change the corrupt and tainted image of NPF leaders” who have destroyed Nagaland in every sphere of governance during the past 12 years.
It took serious note of a report in a local daily, mentioning that central BJP leaders would for President’s Rule, if the rebel NPF legislators cannot form the government or if the incumbent chief minister “moves close” to Congress to prove majority on the floor of the house. NPCC said the statement was “highly condemnable and shows scant respect for established democratic norms”. Further, NPCC reiterated that when Congress remained “non-committal” about support for any group, questioned BJP whether Congress support for any of the groups, “ is unconstitutional, warranting imposition of President’s Rule”?
NPCC said if that was the case, then the same yardstick be applied to state BJP unit, whose leaders, after enough flip-flops, have once again officially reaffirmed support to the rebel NPF camp despite BJP central leaders “closely watching the situation and treating the matter purely as internal matter of the NPF.”
NPCC said BJP cannot fool the people of Nagaland, who could see through their “cheap political stunts” and who have nothing to offer except “empty rhetoric and propagation of communal and divisive agenda”. It said imposing President’s Rule, at this juncture, would not be the answer to the problems faced by the people of Nagaland, who had given massive mandate to NPF, despite the party’s blatant misrule and corruption since 2003.
NPCC said NPF leaders in both camps who “ are blinded with greed to amass more power and wealth” should wake up from their reverie and respect the mandate of the people to provide “ a semblance of stable government for the given tenure”.
NPCC also appealed to the state Governor to “rescue the people of the state from the clutches of paralysed governance”. It urged upon the Governor to execute his assigned role as the guardian of the constitution to end the impasse without any bias of favour by applying constitutional mechanisms to restore the principles of democracy, that has been hijacked by “ the internal power struggle of the ruling NPF party”.
