NOA observes World Optometry Day

In observance of World Optometry Day, Nagaland Optometric Association (NOA) in conducted School Eye Screenings with the theme “Eyes to the Future: Optometry improving Global Wellness”.


In a press release NOA president Weweu Khalo Tsuha informed that in Kohima, it was conducted at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima on March 18. A total of 184 students were screened and 71 students were diagnosed with Refractive Errors.


In Chümoukedima, the event was conducted at Government Middle School, Seithekema Basa on March 21, 2025. 200 students were screened and three refractive errors were diagnosed.

The NOA along with the support of the National Program for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCBVI), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare have made arrangements for providing spectacles to the students.


The World Optometry Day is observed annually on March 23, a global recognition of the invaluable contributions of Optometrists to eye health. The annual observance is a global initiative to create awareness about the importance of eye and vision care, highlighting the role of Optometrist in safeguarding vision and promoting eye health.
