Drawing attention to Chingmei Range Public Organization (CPRO)’s objection to the inclusion of Chingmei range in Noklak district, the Noklak Village Council (NVC) Monday asserted that the demand for according district status to Noklak was “never intended” to marginalize any section of people of the erstwhile Noklak sub-division, but to uplift social and economic condition of the people through development.
In a press release, NVC chairman Panpan and Noklak village head GB Khusoh stated that turning the good intention of the leaders into “endless tussle” leading to enmity among the fellow brothers and sisters was “unfortunate and unbecoming”.
On the “practical difficulties” raised by CRPO such as job opportunities and distance due to headquarters being located at Noklak, NVC said it would be “sign of amnesia” to forget the privileges and opportunities enjoyed by Chingmei range people since the inception of Noklak sub-division.
On CRPO’s claim that Noklak village started claiming Chingmei range as their own, the NVC said it could only assert that “no owner will proclaim now and then unless there is an issue.” NVC said it only reiterated the “historical fact” after having noticed the move of Chingmei range for exclusion of itself from proposed Noklak district.
Affirming that it still maintains the good will relation to every neighbouring village and community, NVC said every person has one’s own origin and every part of land has an owner. “We never thought that CRPO will become so aggressive and demean Noklak Council by such false allegations,” NVC stated.
Further, NVC said that as state government entrusted Noklak village council and Chingmei village council the talk has been going on for mutual understanding and peaceful solution.
NVC, however, stated that intrusion of CRPO on the issue was “uncalled for.” NVC cautioned that CRPO would be responsible for any untoward eventuality though it maintaining patience and hoping for the best.
