In view of the surge in Covid cases in several parts of the country, the District Task Forces (DTFs) of Noklak and Kohima held separate meetings on January 12 to review the preparedness of the districts.
The meeting of Noklak DTF held at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Noklak was chaired by DC Noklak, Hiazu Meru, who is also the chairman of Noklak DTF.
According to DIPR report, at the meeting Hiazu said that Covid-19 control room and all Covid-19 related arrangements have been reactivated in the district.
He said this was done due to the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases in the country and with the detection of the variant of concern, omicron and indicating the arrival of the third wave of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the house decided to cover all eligible persons for Covid -19 vaccination and deliberated on vaccination to persons of 15-18 years of age in the district.
The house also decided to strictly enforce the order and SOPs issued by the home department in the district.
Kohima DTF: In the meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie at DC’s Conference Hall Kohima, the DTF assessed on the preparedness of the district and general discussion on the current situation for the third wave was taken up.
The DTF, with the past two wave experiences, has informed that the district was well prepared with the set up in NHAK, Covid Care Centres, Testing Centre and other medical centres for any eventualities.
The DTF also decided to take up activities for preventive measures in the district.
On the agenda of social health responsibility, CMO Kohima, Dr. Vezokholu Theyo said that the omicron variant has very high transmissibility where patients with co-morbidities will be highly affected.
She, therefore, stressed on the importance of finding out the number of co-morbidities among the community.
DIO Kohima Dr. Rupert Peseyie highlighted on the district Covid vaccination status including the rolled out vaccination for the age group of 15 – 18 years till date. He informed that special sessions on request for schools and colleges were also to be taken up. Precautionary dose or boaster dose for the frontline/health care workers and 60+ with co-morbidities who have completed nine months or 39 weeks after taking the second dose will also be taken up in due course of time.
Survilence Medical Officer, WHO, Dr. Shiela Lkr also shared on the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) with its goal to achieve maximum coverage of routine immunization on booth day (January 23) with 80% coverage and two days of house to house visit.
She also informed on mission Indradhanush programme for three months starting from February 7, March 7 and April 4, 2022 to ensure the increase of immunization coverage in the district.
