Noklak public rally calls for maintaining peace

Thousands of people including school students on Friday turned up for peace rally at Noklak town main junction, which was organized by Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) against the recent clashes and unrest within the ENPO jurisdiction particularly under Noklak sub-division.
The rally led by the Eastern Nagaland People’s organization (ENPO) called for maintaining peace and tranquillity especially in Khiamnuingan region where there had been clashes between security forces and Naga political group(s) since May last.
Several leaders who spoke at the rally condemned the spate of violence that erupted under ENPO jurisdiction despite adoption of several resolutions that disapproved violence. Public leaders expressed their displeasure with both security forces and Naga political group for violating the December 18, 2007 ENPO resolution, which resolved that there should not be any bloodshed, threat, intimidation or any form of violence within the ENPO jurisdiction.
They maintained that violence has hampered total developmental activities, academic career of thousands of students and creating fear psychosis in the minds of innocent publics.
Therefore, the leaders at the rally urged both the security forces and Naga faction(s) to respect each other and avoid clashes in ENPO jurisdiction by sticking to December 17, 2007 resolution. At the rally, the general public of Noklak sub-division adopted resolution, which affirmed that any undue harassment, clashes between security forces and NPG resulting in the death of innocent public, destruction of property in public area and rampant action meted out to innocent public “shall be seriously viewed as adverse to public welfare” under Khiamnuingan region in both Burma (Myanmar) and India.
Later, a copy of resolution adopted was also submitted to ADC Noklak, security forces and NPGs.
The rally was attended by Khiamnuingan Tribal Council, public from Noklak sub-division, school students, Khiamnuingan students’ union, Khiamnuingan Menyiu Hoikam, representatives from ENPO and GBs of all villages.
