North East NSS festival concludes in Kohima

The five-day North East NSS Festival 2025 under the theme Viksit Bharat concluded on June 14 at Dziiii Resort, Riisoma village, Kohima district.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Commissioner and Secretary of Youth Resources & Sports, Anthony Ngullie, said the theme Viksit Bharat aligns with India’s vision to become a developed nation by 2047, marking 100 years of independence. He highlighted youth energy, innovation, and commitment as key drivers of this transformation.
Anthony lauded NSS volunteers for their contributions through environmental initiatives, social outreach programs, cultural exhibitions, and leadership workshops. He described them as “nation builders,” emphasizing that even small acts of service—like planting trees, educating children, assisting health camps, or advocating for gender equality—play a vital role in shaping a stronger India.
In various competitions held during the festival, the winners were:
Extempore Speech: 1st – Nisha Rai (Sikkim), 2nd – Luhwang Konyak (Nagaland), 3rd – Eliyo Awungshi (Manipur).
Poster Making: 1st – Karambir (Assam), 2nd – Jopin Riba (Arunachal Pradesh), 3rd – Rukuwe-ii Kanuo (Nagaland).
Slogan Writing: 1st – Somhang Aboh (Arunachal Pradesh), 2nd – Mebalari Nonghum (Meghalaya), 3rd – Jumku Bai (Arunachal Pradesh) & Suparna Roy (Tripura).
Cultural Dance: 1st – Nagaland, 2nd – Arunachal Pradesh, 3rd – Manipur.
State NSS Officer, Ruokuovituo Zatsu, said 300 NSS volunteers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura, and host state Nagaland participated in the event, held from June 10 to 14.
He expressed gratitude to chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for sponsoring a sightseeing trip to the Cathedral of Kohima, II World War Cemetery, State Museum, and Indira Gandhi Stadium, as well as hosting a dinner for the participants on June 13.
The festival was chaired by Langphoang, UDA, NSS Cell, and organized by NSS Cell under the directorate of Youth Resources & Sports, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati, and sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
