North Zone survive final-over drama; Central Zone beat NE Zone by 7 wkts

North Zone clinched a nail-biting 3-run win over East Zone, while Central Zone registered a dominant 7-wicket victory against North East Zone at Sovima in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chumoukedima on Saturday.
In a match that went down to the wire, North Zone edged past East Zone by 3 runs. Batting first, North Zone posted 114/7 in 20 overs, powered by Deeya Yadav’s brisk 40 off 24 balls and Ayushi Soni’s steady 28* off 33. East Zone’s bowlers, led by Jintimani Kalita (3/20) and Sushree Dibyadarshini (2/20), kept the scoring in check.
Chasing 115, East Zone fell short by a whisker, bowled out for 111 in 19.5 overs. T Sarkar top-scored with 29 off 35, but North Zone’s disciplined attack, spearheaded by Nazma (3/20) and Amandeep Kaur (3/13), sealed the win in the final over. Nazma was named Player of the Match.
Central Zone cruised to a 7-wicket win over North East Zone, thanks to a sensational bowling display by Anushka Sharma, who claimed 5/23 in 4 overs and earned Player of the Match honours.
North East Zone, opting to bat first, were restricted to 83 in 18 overs. Priyanka Kurmi (23) and D D Dutta (23) offered brief resistance, but the innings crumbled under pressure from Central Zone’s attack, with Shuchi Upadhyay (2/11) and Vaishnavi Sharma (2/17) supporting well.
In reply, Central Zone chased down the target in 13.3 overs, finishing at 86/3. Nuzhat Parween (35) and Mona (30) guided the innings with composure, ensuring a comfortable finish.
