Northern Sumi Community Dimapur (NSCD) has appealed to the state government to immediately issue work orders for phase-II of the ongoing two-lane Nagaland Foot Hills Road (FHR) construction under Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) loan scheme.
In a representation addressed to the state chief minister, NSCD chairman Vikai Yeptho commended the state government’s proactive efforts in advancing phase-I of the project—connecting Tizit to Khelma—which was now nearing completion.
NSCD said that this crucial infrastructure project has brought immense hope and encouragement to the people across the foothill regions.
Recalling the earlier assurance by PWD (R&B) minister to complete the entire project by 2027, NSCD requested the chief minster to direct the Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) to issue work orders for phase-II—covering the remaining untouched divisions—at the earliest possible time.
NSCD stressed that timely action was critical before the current dry working season ends, to ensure smooth and uninterrupted implementation without avoidable delays.
Further, NSCD highlighted that the early commencement of phase-II would substantially enhance connectivity, stimulate economic development, and improve the overall welfare of people residing along the foothill areas.
NSCD expressed confidence that the chief minister’s office would accord favourable consideration to this matter in the larger public interest.
