Not disintegrating Nagas, says ENPO

Eastern Naga People’s Organisation (ENPO) has asserted that it was neither disintegrating the Naga family, nor shying away from any common Naga issue.

Taking note of the appeal made by eight tribal bodies to ENPO to reconsider its stance and join hands with rest of the Nagas, ENPO in a statement clarified and appealed to the eight tribal bodies to take its stand in a positive manner, and extend their prayer and moral support.
The ENPO recalled that it had demanded a full-fledged separate state for socio-economic development and politically avail the privileges of fundamental democracy way back in 2010.

However, it pointed out that the Centre, the state government, and some tribal bodies had then appealed to reconsider the demand for separate state, claiming that Central government was making an effort to offer an arrangement called Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) that would be under Nagaland.

As such, with the sole intention to keep away from any misunderstanding and apprehension, the ENPO clarified that it did not perceive any division within the family with the granting of the proposed FNT by the Centre. Rather, the organisation reasoned that the people of the region would progress socially and economically, and become equal contributors to the prosperity of the state and pursue all common issues jointly.
