Nagaland Pensioners’ Association (NPA) has urged the Principal Accountant General (A&E), Nagaland, Kohima, to expedite the implementation of revised pension and family pension orders as per the Government of Nagaland’s Office Memorandum No. FIN/ESTT-2/9/ROP/PEN/2016 and No. FIN/ESTT-1/11/VII CPC/16 (PR) dated November 2, 2018.
In a representation submitted to the PAG, the association highlighted that despite clear directives from the government to revise pensions “as per existing provisions at the earliest,” the matter has remained static since 2017. The NPA expressed concern over the continued delay, stating that senior pensioners and family pensioners are facing undue hardship. The association noted that the Office of the Principal Accountant General is held in high regard and urged its staff to uphold the dignity of the institution by being well-versed in pension rules and guiding pensioners with courtesy and professionalism.
It further pointed out that concordance tables for pension revision under Rule 15(i)(i) of the Nagaland Services ROP Rules 2017 have been meticulously formulated, simplifying the process of issuing payment authority. The NPA requested that payment authority be issued with effect from April 1, 2010, for pre-June 1, 2008 pensioners/family pensioners (as per O.M. dated May 5, 2017 and December 20, 2017), and from January 1, 2008, for pre-June 1, 2017 pensioners/family pensioners (as per O.M. dated November 2, 2018 and relevant ROP rules).
