NPCC alleges irregularities in Alongtaki constituency

As the state geared up to celebrate Statehood Day on Friday, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) Public Grievances Department has once again reminded the state government and the people of Nagaland about the multiple cases of irregularities and fraudulent activities in the state-sponsored infrastructure development projects in Alongtaki assembly constituency, which it had flagged and brought to public notice earlier through press statements.

NPCC PGD co-chairman Meshenlo Kath and secretary Neidevi Kuotsu in a statement lamented that at a time when the whole state was preparing to honour the legacy of state’s founder architect Dr lmkongliba Ao, people of his home constituency Alongtaki were being cheated of their rights in a brazen manner.

They said the state of affairs in Alongtaki Assembly Constituency, which was now being represented by minister and previous Nagaland BJP president Temjen lmna Along, spoke volumes about the true nature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Amrit Kaal model of development. They claimed that data collected from RTI replies strongly suggested that crores of public money for several projects had been withdrawn with no evidence of work being implemented on ground.

Mentioning that they had repeatedly sought accountability from the state government and promoters of the projects, they said the stoic silence of the government in spite of such damning allegations was deplorable and would be considered as admission of guilt. The two leaders condemned such blatant abuse of power by the state government and demanded an immediate explanation to set the records straight on the matter. In the continued absence of any intervention on the part of the government on the matter, they said they would be compelled to intensify their fight for the rights of the people of the affected constituency.

They also called upon all right-thinking citizens of Alongtaki, irrespective of their political affiliations, to come forward and join them in the cause. Asserting that the interests of the public was paramount, they assured of ensuring that they saw through to the end of this fight for justice against any and all odds.
