Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) through its media cell has demanded that “deposed chief minister T.R.Zeliang” come clean by naming which political elements did not want solution to the Naga political problem.
NPCC also said Zeliang should publicly name those political elements posing hurdles rather than make a vague statement that is detrimental to the overall interest of the Nagas.
NPCC said NPF’s “frustration was understandable” given the fact that it had miserably failed on all fronts for the past 14 years of rule.
“When our own house is in total disarray owing to the divisive politics of the NPF, it is unwise of NPF leaders to simply accuse others of doing the same. The myopic policy of the NPF has isolated Nagas from all our neighbors with whom we had co existed since time immemorial,” NPCC said.
It further reminded NPF that Nagaland has had enough of their rhetoric on finding political settlement to the protracted Naga issue. The NPF leadership which promised political solution within three months, if voted to power in 2003 elections, seem to be still searching for that elusive promise made 14 years ago, NPCC said.
Taking a dig at BJP, saying it was now the high command of NPF, NPCC questioned the saffron party about its promise to settle the Naga issue with 18 months after coming to power.
NPCC said the recent statements made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home minister Rajnath Singh and MoS Home Kiren Rijiju during the election rally in Manipur had clearly indicated the mindset of the BJP leadership that it was keen to keep fishing in troubled waters.
It said NPF continues to ignore the endless sufferings of the people while it was busy devoting time and resources to campaign beyond state borders.
NPCC therefore urged upon the NPF leaders “to at least put a semblance of governance in the state for the next few months rather than attempting to shift blame on others for all their failures.”
