NPCC dismisses rumours about alliance with NDPP

Staff Reporter

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has refuted rumors about a potential alliance between the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Congress. Addressing the media here at Congress Bhavan, NPCC communication department chairperson Yanger Longkumer accused the NDPP and certain regional parties of disseminating these rumors.

Yanger stated that these parties have been suggesting that if the INDIA bloc forms the government at the Centre, they would ally with the Congress, but if the BJP remains in power, the current alliance would continue unchanged.

He maintained that any post poll possible alliance would be decided by INDIA bloc and AICC leadership, while urging the people of Nagaland not to get deceived by such ploys.
He further informed that Congress would contest all the seats in the upcoming ULB election without any alliance except for Tseminyu town where the party has forged an alliance with RPP.

Asserting that the party was focussed of women and youth, Yanger, therefore, encouraged the intending candidates to come forward and seek tickets. Further, Yanger described the exit polls results that were released and circulated widely since Sunday by various media as a ploy of the BJP government to sabotage the public verdict since they knew that people of India had voted in favour of INDIA bloc.

He requested the people of Nagaland and India not to get deceived by such false propaganda but wait for the final results on Tuesday. Yanger claimed that the INDIA bloc would get a minimum of 295 seats, which was a comfortable majority to form the next government at the Centre. He mentioned that the leaders of the bloc were very confident about this and had already spelt this out.

Asked about the strategy if the Congress won the Nagaland parliamentary seat, he replied that the party would continue to raise the voice of the people and ensure all necessary developmental schemes in the state to uplift the people.

He pointed out that the AICC leaders had already assured to induct S Supongmeren Jamir as a minister if INDIA bloc formed the government at the centre.
