Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) Friday expressed serious concern over the current situation in Tuesang district after the fallout at Chendang Saddle and Yakhor village.
NPCC’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) chairman K.V. Pusa expressed dismay at, what he described as “lackadaisical attitude” of the state government in tackling the issue. Pusa urged state government “not to sleep over issue” but make an effort to settle the issue at the earliest before situation went out of hand.
Further, he said situation could have been prevented had the government taken all pre-cautionary measures. Pusa added that simply imposing Section 144 CrPc would not work but negotiation with the two parties would resolve all outstanding issues. Meanwhile, NPCC PAC chairman appealed to two communities to come to the negotiation table and settle the issue in the interest of all Naga communities. He said violence would not solve the issue but would further deteriorate the situation. The congress leader also appealed to Yimchungru Public Coordination Committee (YPCC) to withdraw the quit notice issued to non-Changs and non-Yimchungrus residing in Tuensang town.
