NPCC, FGN extend New Year greetings

With the beginning of 2019, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) and Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) have sent New Year greetings.

NPCC: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has wished the people of Nagaland a Happy New Year.

In a message, NPCC president K Therie hoped that 2019 would be the year of hope and opportunities. He prayed that the “Lord of Lords” make 2019 a fulfilling year.

Alluding to the divisions that the Nagas had suffered in recent years, the pradesh Congress chief observed that frictions and divisions on the basis of “religion, tribalism, factions, social organisations, associations and unions” had destroyed the primary goal of life, “happiness”. He said the divisions had blinded society “losing sight of a common goal, objective and the sense of oneness.”

According to Therie, the “I want more” instinct was out of control, while individualism had become the philosophy.

He remarked, “We have turned to become one of the most individualist society members, perhaps in the world. Welfare of commoners is only skin deep.”

He said though every leader spoke of welfare, the instinct of “I want more” actually controlled the lives of those in power, adding that “corruption, lies, selfishness and cheating” were in daily news.

He regretted that law and order had been completely sidelined, while spiritual values were not practised in life, especially in matters of governance.

The NPCC chief urged Nagas to commit themselves to practising Christian spiritual values in all their activities and receive “365 days of opportunities in 2019.”

He further added “To avail the year of opportunities ahead of us politically and economically, the people must decide to achieve common political objective, that is solution, and an economy through clean governance. Together only we can turn the table in favour of the common people.”

FGN: Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has wished all the Nagas a Happy New Year.

Greeting everyone in the name of the Most High, FGN Kedahge “brig. (retd)” S. Singnya, in a press note praised God and wished every member of the Naga Household a very Happy New Year.

Singnya called this a time for everyone to retrospect, think afresh and resolve to strive for the better. “It is the time also to plan and reach out to one another with love and hope, to renew and strengthen relationship; it is indeed the time when we see the best in us at work” he added.

As the unfolding of the best promises of the New Year are anticipated, he extended heartiest goodwill to every individual member of the Naga family.

“…may we never forget to remember the collective vision and aspiration of the pioneers of our Naga nation, the sacrifices of sweat and blood upon which the foundation of our nation and our identity was laid firmly” he stated.

He however pointed out that this does not mean “that we bask over the past glories or treat unfortunate events with vinegary” and urged everyone to press on forward by letting the rich historical experiences give meaning to both the present and the future. Singnya also wished that “we constantly remind ourselves that it is God who guided us to where we are today and thus seek His face earnestly for the redemption of our aspiration and hope.”
