Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has condemned the BJP government at the Centre for “high-handed and anti-democratic act” of arresting INDIA bloc MPs who were on protest march in New Delhi from Parliament House to the Election Commission on Monday against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.
NPCC communications department also condemned the government’s refusal to allow a discussion on the matter in Parliament, despite repeated and persistent demands.
Congress alleged that “collusive actions” of the Modi government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) were an assault on the principles of a free and fair electoral system in Bihar.
NPCC also said if SIR in Bihar was allowed to proceed it would have grave consequences for the nation as a whole, eroding the democratic fabric of India from the highest levels of governance down to the grassroots.
NPCC affirmed its commitment to stand by party leaders and to continue “resisting this injustice until democracy prevails.”
Lok Sabha MP and NPCC president S. Supongmeren Jamir also joined protest march. The march was organised to register strong opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar.
