As part of Congress party’s nationwide protest, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) organised demonstration at the Congress Bhavan premises, Kohima on Friday demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his controversial remarks on Dr.BR Ambedkar.
NPCC through its communications department informed that the protest demonstration was organised along with its frontals and Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC).
Speaking at the protest site, NPCC working president Khriedi Theunuo strongly condemned the Home Minister remarks, which he said “insulted” Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Father of the Indian Constitution.
Theunuo stated that that such statements undermined the very principles on which the democracy of country was built. He called for accountability at the highest level.
NPPCC secretary (protocol), Akuonuo Miachieo expressed outrage over the Amit Shah’s remarks and demanded the immediate resignation of the Home Minister. She stated that the Home Minister’s actions and words have “shown a blatant disregard for the values” enshrined in the Constitution.
The protest also highlighted the death of Assam Youth Congress member Mridul Islam, allegedly caused by Assam Police, and the detention of Youth Congress leaders Zubair Anam and Uday Bhanu Chib in Guwahati.
Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) president Lima Lemtur condemned the incident and said that it was a grave misuse of power and a direct attack on democratic values.
Meanwhile, NPCC has also strongly condemned the “false allegations” made by MP Rajya Sabha, S Phangnon Konyak, against the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi. “Such baseless accusations are aimed at diverting attention from pressing issues and undermining our leadership,” NPCC said.
The party affirmed that it would continue its protests until the Home Minister stepped down. NPCC also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding constitutional integrity and democratic principles.
NPMCC slams Phangnon’s ‘defamatory accusations’
Nagaland Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (NPMCC) has condemned the “defamatory accusations” levelled against Congress party leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi by MP Rajya Sabha S Phangnon Konyak.
In a statement, NPMCC president Odikumla asserted that “this malicious attempt” by the lady MP to “malign and smear” the reputation and integrity of its leader Rahul Gandhi “based on blatant lies and fabricated charges” would not be tolerated at any cost.
Asserting that it has taken “this libellous allegation” against its leader “very seriously”, the NPMCC has urged the MP to henceforth think twice before levelling “such damning accusations” without verifiable evidence to support her claims.
