NPCC, NCD press govt to act on RMSA 2016 teachers’ demands

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC), and Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) have expressed strong concern over the ongoing agitation by RMSA 2016 batch teachers and called upon the state government to implement the court-mandated scale pay and regularize their services without further delay.
In separate press statements, the organizations noted that the prolonged impasse has disrupted academic activities in 133 government high schools across Nagaland, affecting thousands of students. They attributed the agitation to the government’s failure to honour the ruling of the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, which was subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court of India.
NPCC: NPCC stated that the judgment clearly entitles the aggrieved teachers to salary and service benefits at par with other RMSA batches. It urged the government to act promptly in fulfilling the court’s directives, emphasizing that the future of students must remain the top priority.
NCD: NCD described the issue as a matter of grave concern for parents and stakeholders, and appealed to the Advisor for School Education to intervene with urgency and fairness. It called for a magnanimous resolution in principle and practice.
KTC: KTC condemned the government’s inaction, terming it inequitable and unjust. It highlighted the vital role teachers play in shaping society and pointed out that Nagaland’s recognition as the third most literate state in India is a testament to their dedication. KTC expressed full solidarity with the RMSA 2016 teachers and demanded enforcement of the court verdict to uphold the dignity of educators.
ACAUT: ACAUT extended its unwavering support to the legitimate demands of the RMSA teachers, stating that their continued engagement on a contractual basis since 2016 without regularization or appropriate pay violates labour laws and amounts to exploitation. ACAUT noted that the teachers have consistently contributed to academic success and deserve permanent status within the education system. It further warned that prolonged delay in addressing the grievances could lead to consequences that may be difficult to contain, especially as public awareness and accountability rise.
ACAUT urged the government to act decisively and resolve the issue in the interest of justice, educational stability, and public welfare. All four organizations reiterated that the matter demands immediate attention and a permanent resolution to safeguard the future of students and uphold the dignity of educators across the state.
