NPCC president K. Therie has asked those state political leaders not to mislead Nagas by saying that “talk is in the right direction” and solution was coming soon, since the past 20 years or that solution will be announced on Republic Day or Independence Day or “before Christmas”. In a strongly worded statement Therie said while not wishing to call such leaders cheats or liars, they should be honest and admit they don’t know about it.
Further, Therie maintained that Centre has no sufficient ground to defer the forthcoming assembly election and hoped the Centre would not create any “unsustainable precedence”.
On the part of NPCC, Therie reminded that it had urged Rajiv to offer talks without pre-conditions and which he declared on May 19,1991 at Dimapur local ground. Later, he said, then PM, P.V. Narasimha Rao had fulfilled Rajiv’s assurance when he offered talks without conditions on February 26,1996. He also appealed to NNC/FGN under Adinno Phizo and NSCN (K) to consider participating in the dialogue as it was the only answer to 1951 Plebiscite.
