Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Tuesday refuted the claims of the state government developing the backward areas. In a statement, NPCC through its communications department listed out projects worth over Rs. 10,000 crore (See table) sanctioned between 2018-22 under various schemes.
Referring to the list where the schemes were implemented only in few districts, NPCC termed it as “injustice, inequality and corruption”.
Claiming that many of these projects were unverifiable as per CAG report, NPCC said that “unverifiable” meant that there was nothing on ground. “We have no roads but we have many workorders,” the party said, adding that the NITI AYOG had classified Nagaland as the worst-performing state. Except for the national highways, NPCC said were no roads. And if anybody wanted details, the party said it had documents available at its office.
According to NPCC, funds were the due share of the States and every State had a share in each Union ministry, which was nothing special. The party said that the Central government was spending in terms of Rs 100 lakh crore for roads across the country, out of which Nagaland was being given only “bird feed, not even chicken feed”.
