DIMAPUR: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has strongly refuted the recent claims made by Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, regarding what he termed “unprecedented development and infrastructure progress” in Nagaland under the BJP led Government.
In a statement, NPCC said while the minister may highlight budgetary allocations, railway electrification figures and investment announcements, the people of Nagaland are more concerned with the reality they face daily. It asserted that development cannot be measured by statistics and speeches alone, but must be reflected in completed projects and improved public infrastructure.
NPCC pointed out that despite repeated claims of railway development in the Northeast, major projects in Nagaland remain incomplete. Dimapur Railway Station, the state’s sole major gateway, has not received the promised modernization and upgradation, leaving passengers to cope with inadequate facilities while stations elsewhere have undergone substantial transformation.
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee also raised concern on the condition of roads across the state.
From Dimapur to Niuland and other districts, NPCC said roads are plagued by potholes, poor drainage and substandard construction. Many newly built roads have deteriorated within a short period, raising questions on quality control, accountability and effective use of public funds.
“The people of Nagaland deserve answers. If infrastructure development has indeed progressed as claimed, why do citizens continue to struggle with incomplete railway projects, neglected railway infrastructure and deplorable road conditions?” Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee asked. It urged the BJP Government to stop indulging in self congratulatory narratives and instead deliver tangible results.
The Committee demanded a transparent status report on pending railway projects, expedited completion, modernization of Dimapur Railway Station and urgent attention to the deteriorating road conditions across Nagaland.
