DIMAPUR: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed grief over the devastating floods that have affected Tizit town, Tizit village and Lapalampong village in Mon district, and urged the state and central governments to immediately step up relief and rehabilitation efforts.
NPCC through its communication department said reports indicated that nearly 800 households in Tizit town had been affected by the floods, which caused widespread destruction to homes, schools, hostels, shops, tea gardens, agricultural land and livestock, leaving hundreds of families in distress.
The party also expressed concern that, despite the scale of the disaster, the affected communities had reportedly not received adequate relief and assistance.
Stressing that the immediate priority should be saving lives and addressing humanitarian needs, NPCC called for the urgent provision of shelter, food, safe drinking water, medicines, clothing and the restoration of essential services.
The Congress party appealed to the state government, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and all concerned agencies to undertake comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures without delay. NPCC also urged the Centre to extend all possible assistance to ensure timely support for the affected families.
Expressing solidarity with those impacted by the floods, NPCC expressed sympathy to families who had suffered losses and prayed for the safety, strength and speedy recovery of the affected people. The party further appealed to civil society organisations, churches, NGOs, businesses and the public to contribute relief materials, financial assistance and voluntary services to support the affected communities.
