NPCC to hold ‘crusade against unfaithful govt’ from Sept 24

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) led by its president and functionaries have decided to launch a state-wide “crusade against the unfaithful government” from September 24 starting from Dimapur.

In a statement, NPCC said: “We no longer have hope on the government to resolve the political issue unless we change it. Secondly, our faith is under threat. We are slowly moving away from Christianity. Many believers do not practice Christianity anymore. They are free to worship idols and follow rituals that are against our religious beliefs.”

While stating that it cannot change the government neither can it save Nagaland, NPCC said it could only voice the aspirations of the public. Though power lies in the hands of the voters, NPCC lamented  that the people of Nagaland were now considered as a purchasable commodity by the government of the day, adding that “people fear money and power and have lost the courage to stand for noble cause, ethnic values and credentials.”

NPCC said it intended to share the pains and fears that the demography of Nagaland, which it said may change in due course of time. The party also feared that “multiple governance will ultimately bring famine, increase goons, robberies and destroy the moral code”.

“As we continue with corruption, the classification between the haves and the haves not and its disparity will choke the life out of citizens. With frustration, mafias and other organised gang wars will emerge,” NPCC stated.

While admitting that the party had been in the opposition for the past 18 years, NPCC said are face with financial constraints to sponsor the crusade expenses. In this regard, NPCC has sought support for the crusade through donations and contributions. It said that as per the law, one was free to donate Rs.2000 and for higher donation amounts, electoral bonds were available with scheduled banks, adding that the funds were for “our fuel and water”.
