Two-day “NPCC workers leadership training programme” concluded Saturday at conference hall, Congress Bhavan, Kohima.
Speaking on “capacity building”, NPCC president Therie urged the party workers to develop leadership qualities and work in teamwork to achieve the common goals.
Stating that leaders produce outcomes and solve problems rather than complain, he urged for efficiency at all levels of organization and to set common goals to bring change for a better future.
Making a presentation on “economy of the state”, Therie said “we have to wake up from slumber to an active life and say no to bribes and expect monthly returns from welfare schemes and other employment and business avenues and opportunities”.
He said that there was a need for each family to secure its income and make its budget and spend accordingly. Urging the younger generations to learn from the business community, Therie said, the youth have an important role to play in providing the workforce both in production and marketing.
He also called on the government to actively promote agricultural and horticultural products which were doing well in the state and said there was a need to stimulate investment in the state.
Former secretary NPCC, B.S Shekhawat presented on “creating people’s bank” and “managing constituency” and urged for a participatory approach in taking the people to the destination by directly communicating and coordinating with the people and in the process create competencies.
He said that the bottom-up approach is most advisable given the high literacy rate and the increased levels of public awareness. Saying that the people are the power, the party and the possibility, he encouraged the party workers to enthuse, enable and empower the people through their interactions.
Shekhawat said politics was a noble profession if performed with utmost dedication, absolute honesty and concern for the welfare of the people and not for achieving individual political objectives.
Other speakers included principal, Dimapur Law College P. Leonard Aier, NPCC vice president Khriedi Theunuo, NPCC working president, Ayang Aonok and capt. G. K. Zhimomi, chairman, media cell, NPCC and Takamasa ex-MLA. NPCC general secretaries, Dokio Kecham and Jonathan Ao chaired the meetings and the latter also proposed the vote of thanks.
