NPF calls for strict ILP implementation

Naga People’s Front (NPF) has called for strict and comprehensive implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP), especially in Dimapur and other vulnerable border regions. NPF stressed that border control mechanisms must be fortified, and police outposts strengthened with adequate manpower and modern resources.
It said the party always stood steadfast in defending the land, identity, and political future of the Nagas. NPF maintained that the unchecked and growing presence of illegal immigrants was “a threat more insidious than any external aggression”. It said that entire state especially districts like Peren, Dimapur, Niuland, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng and Mon, which share boundary with Assam, have been facing the brunt of illegal immigrants- particularly from Bangladesh, adding it has reached an alarming scale.
Stating that illegal immigrants were not just temporary labourers, NPF said many have entrenched themselves deeply in state economy, markets, trade unions, land ownership, and even in electoral rolls. “Nagaland is being demographically altered before our very eyes,” NPF stated.
Further, NPF stated that “these individuals, without roots in our land or any legal standing,” were today running businesses, buying land, manipulating documentation, and enrolling as voters using forged papers. “This is not a hypothetical threat — it is a lived reality,” NPF added. Therefore, NPF stressed that the issue must not be taken on communal or religious lines as it was about the rightful protection of indigenous rights, land, and identity.
NPF also reaffirmed its “unwavering commitment” to safeguard the rights and future of the Nagas and called upon civil society, political leadership, and public to act urgently and unitedly against the “growing menace of illegal immigration.”
