DIMAPUR: Naga People’s Front (NPF) 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency (AC) held a consultative meeting at Bamboo Hall, Kisama, on June 13, where leaders called for unity, organisational strengthening and collective efforts towards an early resolution of the Naga political issue.
Addressing the gathering, advisor for CAWD and MLA of 18th Chozuba AC, Kudecho Khamo, described the merger of the NDPP with the NPF as part of “God’s divine plan” and urged party workers to place the interests of the party above all else. He highlighted the legacy of former chief minister Vamuzo Phesao, stressing that Chozuba AC had inherited a rich political tradition and must uphold it by working for the welfare and development of the people.
Khamo said the NPF remained the custodian of Naga political aspirations, culture, identity, traditions and faith, and called upon party workers to rededicate themselves to strengthening the party. He also emphasised initiatives such as “One Family, One Project,” “One Family, One Entrepreneur” and “One Family, One Prayer Time” launched last year to empower families and improve livelihoods, while urging citizens to actively cooperate in the upcoming Census 2027 exercise.
Former MLA and NBDA chairman Nuzota Swuro described the NPF as a regional party that must be strengthened to withstand political challenges. He expressed confidence in chief minister and NPF president Dr. Neiphiu Rio’s leadership in pursuing an early resolution of the Naga political issue, the FNTA matter and other developmental needs.
NPF Central Women Wing president Sano Vamuzo stressed the need for strategic planning and organisational strengthening, urging leaders to remain accommodative and broad minded. Working president of COB, Pusazo Luruo, said the NDPP NPF merger was undertaken in the larger interest of the Naga political issue, asserting that Dr. Rio remained sincerely committed to achieving an early settlement.
Other speakers including Dr. Povotso Lohe, Vezhosa Chuzho and Veprasa Nyekha also emphasised unity and support for the party’s leadership.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome address by Vevohü Epao, president of 18th Chozuba AC, chaired by general secretary Thepukrayi Nienu, with invocation by Resamu Rhakho. The vote of thanks was delivered by Veyizo Kezo, and the programme concluded with a prayer by Khwüvolü Nienu.
Resolutions adopted: The house acknowledged the merger of NDPP with NPF as divine intervention and resolved to strengthen the party while supporting an honourable, acceptable and inclusive settlement to the Naga political issue. It also resolved to support Dr. Rio’s leadership and appreciated his appointment of leaders from the constituency to key positions. The meeting further expressed gratitude to Kudecho Khamo for his developmental efforts and pledged continued support.
