NPF Legislature Party has resolved to fight the 2018 Assembly election under the leadership of NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, with TR Zeliang as its Chief Ministerial candidate, if the polls were held.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the NPF Legislature Party meeting held on Monday at State Banquet Hall, Kohima, where, amongst others things, the prevailing political situation was also discussed.
The meeting also reaffirmed confidence and trust in the leadership of Dr Shürhozelie and Zeliang, while resolving to stand solidly behind the two leaders as they lead the NPF and DAN government. After detailed deliberations, the House further passed another resolution expressing its deep sense of appreciation to the party leadership for taking steps to bring about understanding and reconciliation in NPF so that a united stand could be presented for supporting the ongoing dialogue between NSCN (I-M) and NNPGs with the Government of India (GoI) for bringing about an inclusive, acceptable and an honourable solution to the Naga political issue.
The House also placed on record its deep obligation to remain firmly united in the reconciliation process and the need to continue fostering congenial atmosphere in the State for facilitating an early settlement to the Naga political issue.
By another resolution, the meeting appreciated the decision taken for revocation of all suspension and expulsion orders against some of its members and withdrawal of all pending cases from the court of law, Election Commission of India and office of the Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
All the resolutions were unanimously adopted with all the members raising their hand in support, a CMO press release stated.
Meanwhile, DAN Legislature Party, whose meeting too was held at State Banquet Hall, Kohima during the day, reaffirmed and endorsed the five-point resolution adopted by the NPF Legislature Party meet held earlier.
The meeting also expressed deep sense of appreciation for the rapprochement and reconciliation within NPF.
In view of the on-going political dialogue between NSCN (IM) and six NNPGs with GoI, the DAN Legislature Party called for an early solution before the election that was inclusive, acceptable and honourable.
Finally, the meeting urged all DAN members to co-operate and work in unison for successful return to power in the 2018 Assembly elections under the leadership of DAN Chairman Dr Shürhozelie, with Zeliang as Chief Ministerial candidate, if the election was held.
