Central Executive Council (CEC) of the NPF Central held a meeting at the party office Kohima Monday in compliance with the March 27 directive of the Election Commission of India (ECI) on the NPF to settle its internal dispute “amicably within the framework of the party constitution”.
NPF press bureau said the CEC acknowledged ECI’s decision in referring to the NPF constitution.
It said CEC has authorised NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie to summon the party General Convention (GC) and set agenda(s) to be taken up.
In compliance, the party’s general convention has been convened on April 30 in the party office in Kohima as per the party constitution.
It also clarified that Article XIV of the NPF constitution as mentioned in the ECI’s March 27 order be read as Article XV in view of the Seventh Amendment of the constitution in 2013.
A ten-member finance committee was set up as per the constitution headed by chairman- chief minister (ex-officio) and members- NPF president, secretary general, treasurer, C.L. John, Y. Patton, C. Kipili Sangtam, Nuklotoshi, P. Longon and Y. Vikheho Swu.
It also appreciated the government under T.R. Zeliang for an “inclusive government of all political parties” having representation in the state.
The meeting also expressed full support on the leadership of party president Dr. Shürhozelie and chief minister T.R. Zeliang.
At the invitation of the ECI, press bureau said NPF Central deputed two representatives-one each from Nagaland and Manipur- to the consultative meeting of all political parties in the country at Nirvachan Bhavan Delhi on March 30.
