Naga People’s Front (NPF) Wednesday said it has taken “strong exception” to the recent decision of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker for refusing to entertain the issues raised by the NPF Legislature Wing during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting.
NPF through its press bureau stated that the issues raised by the NPF Legislature were of the urgent matter and were of public importance. NPF said the Speaker was therefore expected to consider the subject matter and table in the forthcoming Assembly session rather than “outrightly rejecting it.”
NPF said NPF Legislature raised the Naga political issue, COVID-19 and SARFAESI Act 2002 to be discussed in the floor of the house, but the Speaker flatly refused the plea of the opposition party.
NPF said that the Naga political issue, which required urgent attention as the Naga people were anxiously awaiting for an early honourable solution, needed to be discussed in the Assembly. Opposition party also stated that the current COVID-19 pandemic should also be discussed thoroughly as the public had every right to know how the government is handling.
Further, it stated that SARFAESI Act needed to be thoroughly discussed in the floor of the house as keeping the SARFAESI Act in a limbo was adversely affecting the young entrepreneur who cannot avail loan from the banks because of the conflicting stand adopted by the present Government. Therefore, NPF said that the refusal on the part of the Speaker depicted the callous attitude of the PDA government towards the welfare of the public.
NPF insisted that the issues raised by its Legislature Wing be considered for the thorough discussion in the forth coming Assembly session.
Meanwhile, the NPF has expressed concern over the recent advertisement in the medical department and asserted that any appointment should be done as per the laid down norms and conditions of the Government procedures so no deserving candidates were deprived. NPF said that the government should not discriminate any batch of the trained medical staff and the department should not float any new rules regarding the recruitment policy just because of the present pandemic situation.
