DIMAPUR: Naga People’s Front (NPF), Noklak division, organised a thanksgiving and felicitation programme on June 26 in honour of P. Longon on his appointment as advisor for the Department of Taxes. The programme was held at his residence in Noklak.
Longon, who earlier served as minister for Health and Family Welfare from 2015 to 2018, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for entrusting him with the portfolio, describing the appointment as an honour for the community. He said holding a portfolio was “like a shed that provides shelter to the people,” and appealed for continued cooperation and support of party workers in discharging his duties effectively.
He thanked party leaders, workers and supporters for the felicitation, reaffirming his commitment to work with dedication for the welfare and development of the people.
Joint Commissioner of Taxes, Imosong, highlighted the department’s role in mobilising and collecting revenue for the government, noting that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented nationwide on July 1, 2017.
Short speeches were delivered by NPF Noklak division president Weisang, COB and division in charge vice president S. Chollen, and KTC president L. Ngon, who congratulated Longon and expressed confidence in his leadership.
The programme was attended by members of the NPF Noklak division parent body, Women Wing, Youth Wing, Farmer Wing, NPF 56th Noklak Assembly Constituency and party workers.
