Naga People’s Front (NPF) and National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland state unit have welcomed the recent historic gathering at Ungma village, Mokokchung, where Naga political groups (NPGs), tribal hohos, and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) came together and issued the “Ungma Statement.”
NPF through its press bureau stated that the coming together of different groups was a clear sign that unity and reconciliation were possible when leaders and people choose dialogue and understanding.
The party appreciated the tireless efforts of the FNR, the wisdom of NPG leaders, the guidance of tribal hohos, and the hospitality of the Ao Senden and the Ungma community for making the meeting a success.
NPF expressed belief that the spirit shown at Ungma was a ray of hope for the Naga people and would strengthen the journey towards an honourable and lasting solution. NPF has appealed to all Nagas to “continue supporting this spirit of oneness” with prayer, goodwill, and cooperation.
NPF also assured to extend full support and solidarity to every sincere effort that works for peace, unity, and the political aspirations of the Naga people.
NPP state unit: NPP Nagaland state unit through its media cell said “history was written” at Ungma village, Mokokchung, where NPGs, tribal hohos, and FNR stood together and declared the “Ungma Statement”, which it described as “a bold message that unity is not beyond reach.”
NPP unit said Naga people for decades have longed for healing and an honourable solution.
“What unfolded at Ungma is more than an agreement; it is the spark of a collective awakening that dialogue and reconciliation are stronger than division,” NPP Nagaland stated.
NPP Nagaland also lauded the tireless role of FNR, the courage of Naga leaders, the wisdom of tribal hohos, and the open-hearted hospitality of the Ao Senden and the Ungma community. It said their efforts proved that hope could be turned into action.
Stating that NPP was rooted in the vision of peace and people’s progress, the party called upon every Naga “to keep this flame of oneness alive — in prayer, in goodwill, and in cooperation.” The party also reaffirmed support to any sincere effort that advanced unity, peace, and the political aspirations of Naga people.
