Coinciding with NPF General Convention (GC) on November 22, convened by NPF president. Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu’s group, the NPF (NR-TR) also held their “annual executive” meetings in several districts– Tuensang, Mokokchung and Kiphire (See reports on p-2).
It may also be noted that the NPF (NR-TR) had their GC on September 20 at Dimapur.
In Dimapur, the NPF division during its meeting held at Town Hall Dimapur adopted a five-point resolution, in the presence of central executive council members, party office bearers and frontals bodies by raising hands.
Among the resolutions, the members reiterated that the eight member team, set up by the NPF (Rio/Zeliang) party, should vigorously pursue the quick delivery of justice from the Election Commission for the “Cock” symbol to be awarded to them, being the majority group.
The party has also endorsed the November 17 five-point resolution of the Parliamentary Working Committee on Naga political issue. It also extended unreserved support to the “clean election campaign” initiated by Nagaland Baptist Churches Council
The party reiterated its appeal to all NPF party rank and file to cohesively run the affairs of the party and also the party MLAs to extend unwavering support and guidance to the party setup. The party further reaffirmed all the previous resolution(s) passed by both the legislative wing and the party organizations and renewed its allegiance to the NPF party led by Neiphiu Rio, MP (Lok Sabha) and chief minister, T.R. Zeliang. Addressing the meeting, parliamentary secretary Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio urged the party workers to work sincerely and strengthen the party by setting aside various propagandas.
Zhaleo also called on the members to capture all the five assembly seats in the event election was held.
Presidents from the five assembly constituencies, presidents of women wing, minority wing and youth wing (representative) of Dimapur division also spoke at the meeting.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by NPF Dimapur division president, I. Nungsang Jamir, the programme was chaired by vice president Dimapur division, Adi Angami.
Mon: NPF Mon division also held its annual executive meeting at Council hall, Mon.
Speaking at the meeting, advisor State Lottery and NBDA, Naiba Konyak asserted that in a democratic setup, the majority always prevails. Therefore, he expressed confidence that the ‘Cock’ symbol will be allotted to them as they enjoyed the support of 36 NPF MLAs. He also urged upon the party men to stand by the leadership of NPF president, Neiphiu Rio and chief minister, T.R. Zeliang.
Rural Development minister and NPF, E.E. Pangteang, in-charge of Mon district, said the NPF had successfully and peacefully governed the state for two terms. However, in its third term, he said the party was divided into two groups “due to some individual power mongers, who acted in a dictatorial manner.”
He therefore urged upon the party workers to strengthen the party under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio and T.R. Zeliang, for all round development of the state.
The NPF division and its frontal organizations and legislatures also adopted several resolutions.
The division along with its frontal bodies resolved to support the leadership of NPF president, Neiphiu Rio and chief minister, T.R. Zeliang.
The house resolved to re-strengthen the party at all level and face the next general election 2018. The house also reaffirmed to co-operate and follow the path determined by NPF central Hq to fulfil the desires of the people of Nagaland and the Nagas as a whole for a peaceful settlement to the Naga political problem before the elections.
Parliamentary secretary, P. Pohwang; NPF general secretary Central HQ Kohima, Chingao and NPF Mon division president, H. Pujok Konyak also spoke at the programme.
The programme was chaired by NPF division vice president, Wangpai; invocation was pronounce by KBCM pastor, Nahngom and benediction by advisor NPF Mon division, Tingnyam.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by H. Pujok Konyak and vote of thanks by NPF Mon division youth wing president, N. Longshah.
