NPF Peren slams PDA government

Alleges Peren district has been particularly affected by mis-governance

NPF Peren Division has accused the PDA government of mis-governance and having a lackadaisical attitude during the year 2018, towards the State and towards Peren district in particular.
NPF Peren Division president Haigam Kauring, in a press release listed a series of allegations regarding funds allocation, among other things.
It said that the slogan “Change is Coming” of the NDPP was yet to see the light of the day with innocent officers being transferred based on allegations of being not supporters of NDPP, while some officers were made to suffer on account of their kith and kin working against NDPP.
NPF Peren asserted that funds and projects sanctioned under Special Road Development Program (SRDP) for Peren district were diverted and of the many projects diverted, improvement of the Peren-Tening road has been one of the worst affected. “The local NDPP MLA of the Tening Constituency has been a sitting duck and lacks the calibre to stop the diversion nor is he able to bring about any other schemes for improvement or repair of the said road which is in a deteriorated condition” the release said.
According to Haigam, the Peren-Tening project had been included by the previous government in priority list under NLCPR during 2016-17 which subsequently the DONER Ministry retained and approved for sanction. After the NDPP led PDA government was formed, the release said that the local MLA, Namri Nchang, proposed changing the project name from “Peren-Tening” to “Tening-Peren” with the same estimated amount and distance which only delayed the sanction.
It also stated that the previous DAN government upgraded the Tenning SDO Hq to an ADC Hq and the Ahthibung EAC Hq to an SDO Hq, but the present PDA government left these two administrative offices without officers.
NPF Peren further said it learnt that the Centre sanctioned an additional Rs. 185 crores for Grant in Aid (GIA) of VDBs in the State for three years, (2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18), released before the State Assembly elections. Due to the Model Code of Conduct, the previous DAN government could not release the fund, it claimed. It further claimed that the PDA government released the GIA for one year but there was no sight of the GIA to VDBs for the other 2 years. It questioned what has been preventing the government from releasing the backlog funds for the past nine months and also asked if the entire State was being affected or if it was Peren district alone. “Who is holding this public money when the Centre and State finance had released the same to the Department?” it asked.
NPF Peren Division said it was constrained to point out this anomaly because the RD department, and particularly the GIA scheme, touches every household in the State. When the Centre and State finance has made the funds available, but it has been kept on indefinite hold without a valid reason, NPF Peren said it was paramount to question this. It however asserted that its intention was not to tarnish the image of any particular person except to get to the bottom of this malpractice by a few vested interests.
Meanwhile, the NPF division also extended wishes for a very happy and prosperous New Year to all, with wishes for 2019 to be a successful and an illustrious year for Nagaland.
