NPF refutes rumours about MLAs joining BJP

Amidst speculations that some NPF legislators were likely to join BJP to lead a new government in the state and against the backdrop of BJP national wanting to make its imprint in as many states, some NPF legislators have refuted the reports.

When contacted, senior NPF legislator and former minister, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu expressed ignorance about such a move.

Speaking to Nagaland Post, Azo said that as far as he knew, there was no such move within his party or if any NPF legislator was prepared to join BJP to form a BJP government in the state.

Azo, however, said NPF was open to forming an alternative coalition government with any political party but personally, joining the BJP was not an option.

The rumour mills flew thick and fast on learning that NPF leader and former chief minister T.R. Zeliang is in Delhi to meet with high-level BJP leaders. Some within the state BJP said they were not aware of any such move being attempted by the NPF leader.
