NPF Legislature Party along with the NPF central party leaders after a consultative meeting held on Thursday’s at chief minister’s residential office, resolved to withdraw the suspension orders of 10 MLAs and MP Lok Sabha, Neiphiu Rio from the party.
The following NPF members whose suspension orders were revoked included – T.R Zeliang, Y. Patton, C. Kipili Sangtam, G. Kaito Aye, Imkong L. Imchen, Shetoyi, Nuklutoshi, Deo Nukhu, Naiba Konyak, Benjongliba Aier and Neiphiu Rio. The revocation order which was part of the resolution was signed by the NPF working president, Apong Pongner.
Meanwhile, NPF spokesperson Achumbemo Kikon also confirmed that the decision was made after a marathon meeting held at the CM residential office.
The members took into serious consideration the interest of the Nagas in general and the party in particular while revoking the suspensions. This was to facilitate true reconciliation and for better understanding within the party for the sake of Naga public, he said.
Kikon also affirmed that NPF was intact and said that the party took the decision with the hope that the “agitating friends” would reciprocate positively. He assured that the NPF central would not create any kind of hurdles/interfere in bringing about reconciliation.
It may be mentioned that the 10 MLAs were suspended on July 8, while Lok Sabha MP and former chief minister, Neiphiu Rio was suspended on May 17, 2016.
CM for clean govt: Azo
Close on the heels of the Cabinet’s decision to “clean up the system” in the state, Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) chairman Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu disclosed that the government under the leadership of chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie “wishes to implement some stringent rules and bring a strong, better and cleaner government.”
Addressing the monthly meeting of Phek District Planning & Development Board on Wednesday at Phek, Azo said that the 12th NLA has seen one of the most disturbing period ever in history of the NLA. Legislators have brought shame, disgrace and belittled the august house, he said.
He also expressed regret over the present political crisis which has disturbed the minds of the people and bringing development to a standstill.
Commenting on the Nagaland Governor’s directive to chief minister to obtain vote of confidence on the floor of the Assembly on or before July 15, Azo said as per the constitution and rules, no confidence motion can be moved by an opposition leader and if there are no opposition leader, 10 opposition MLAs through writ petition can move the assembly/speaker for a no confidence motion.
Also addressing the meeting, PHED minister, Chotisuh Sazo stated that though the Governor had directed CM to prove majority in the house, the current issue was a political party’s internal affairs. Therefore, seeking no confidence motion for the party’s problem was not wise, he said, adding the problem has to be settled within the party itself.
Sazo also said that all government activities were functioning normally and will function as it is. In this regard, he told the officers not to be worried, but to function as usual with sincerity while discharging their duties.
