Various units of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) have expressed dissatisfaction over the suspension order issued by the Central office to some of the legislators and appealed the concerned authority to revoke the order in the best interest of the party and the public.
Southern Angami-I: The 14 Southern Angami-1 assembly constituency has strongly condemned the ‘undemocratic’ act of expulsion issued to NPF legislators from the party membership by the party president over the recent crisis within the party.
The AC president Neilhouvi Chutso and the general secretary K Jacob Mera have reaffirmed to stand by its elected leader Vikho-o Yhoshu, who is with the majority under the leadership of G Kaito Aye. The signatories expressed believe that the present step taken by the majority of the NPF legislators in choosing a better and more capable leader should not be construed as an anti-party act but rather support their bold decision in initiating a change in the government.
The AC has, therefore, demanded the NPF president to withdraw the suspension order immediately in the best interest of the party.
NPF Dimapur: NPF Dimapur division has termed the suspension of seven ministers and parliamentary secretaries as “harsh” decision, without taking into confidence of the party ranks and files.
In a letter addressed to president NPF, signed by advisor NPF Dimapur division, Tokuho Suhoi Neho stated that unlike national party that was dictated by the “whim and fancy” of the high command, the NPF being regional party prevailed through the majority and the voice of the people.
The division has urged the party president to follow the party democratic norms and allowed the majority to take over smoothly as done by Noke Konyak. It further asked TR Zeliang to “gracefully” step down and pave the way for the interest of the party.
5 Ghaspani-II: NPF 5 Ghaspani II A/C has expressed resentment on the ‘unwarranted’ suspension of its leader and MLA Zhaleo Rio from the NPF party, while it has hit out at NPF president for exercising his powers arbitrarily in serving the suspension order without any rhyme or reason.
The unit president, Gohu Vupru and the general secretary Tokihe Zhimomi have urged the NPF party to revoke the suspension order without delay and pave way for democratic political processes to take place accordingly. Further, the unit has pledged wholehearted support to the leadership of G Kaito Aye.
NPF 60-Pungro Kiphire A/C: Extending its full support to the “majority party” under the leadership of G. Kaito Aye, NPF 60-Pungro Kiphire A/C has demanded the NPF leadership to allow the true spirit of democracy to prevail.
NPF 60-Pungro Kiphire A/C president, Khamong and general Shuven in a press statement have urged the NPF president to immediately revoke the suspension order of the MLAs who had been elected democratically by the people. Further, it pointed out that the “drastic actions” taken by the party president was in contradiction to the unity of the party.
NPF 48 Moka A/C: NPF 48 Moka A/C has supported the majority of the NPF legislature party for electing G. Kaito Aye as the unanimous leader and demanded immediate installation of a new government as desired by the people.
In a press release A/C president, E.Y. Pongtao Konyak and general secretary, Langkham Konyak pointed out that the bold decision was taken with utmost concern for the unity and strengthening of the NPF party. To this, it has urged the
NPF legislature party and president to allow the will of the majority to prevail.
Further, it has appealed to the NPF president to immediately withdrawn the suspension order of the MLAs “unconditionally”.
55 A/C Tobu: The 55 A/C Tobu said it has seriously viewed the “arbitrary” action of the NPF president in suspending the legislative members for exercising their democratic will for change in the leader of the house.
The A/C president, C. Nangba and general P. Shammoh in a press statement has appealed to the president to immediately withdraw the suspension in order to form the government under the leadership of G. Kaito Aye.
NPF 44 A/C Phomching: Reacting to the “haste decision” of Dr. Shurhozelie for suspension of seven “genuinely” elected legislative members, the NPF 44 A/C Phomching termed the action as arbitrary and imprudent.
A/C president, Aloh and general secretary, Y Wangchung said that there was no question of defection nor anti-party activities. The release stated that it unconditionally endorsed the leadership of G Kaito Aye as the next chief minister.
