Various NPF units/division have issued statement in support of the suspension order issued by the NPF president.
Endorsing the action taken by party president Dr.Shürhozelie against seven elected NPF legislators and dropping of ministers and parliamentary secretaries by chief minister T.R. Zeliang, the NPF Peren division Thursday affirmed it would always abide by the party constitution.
In a press release, NPF Peren division president Haigam Kauring and general secretary TeiTui Iheilung stated that they would also continue to work under the leadership of party president Dr.Shürhozelie and chief minister T.R Zeliang.
With regard to Namri Nchang, NPF legislator from 6 Tening A/C, joining the dissident group, the division clarified that he had neither consulted nor met any of the division leaders or party workers on the matter.
NPF Peren said his joining the dissident group was not recognized by the party. It has therefore urged the dissident group to release Namri from the alleged “forceful confinement” and give him the fair chance to meet the party workers and clarify his stand for further necessary action.
NPF Wokha division has endorsed the decision of NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu suspending seven NPF MLAs from both primary and active membership of the party. The division also expressed full support to the NPF leadership of party president Dr. Shürhozelie and chief minister TR Zeliang. This was re-affirmed at a meeting of division office bearers, frontal wings and assembly constituency presidents at NPF Wokha division conference hall at Wokha January 8.
NPF Wokha division had resolved the same at an emergency meeting on January 7. According to NPF Wokha division president P. Mhonthung Patton and general secretary Ekonthung Kikon the meeting also resolved to initiate disciplinary action against any functionary, representing NPF Wokha division, going against the endorsement resolution.
NPF leaders who spoke at the meeting included former agriculture minister Dr. Chumben Murry, former parliamentary secretary Er. W. Kithan, NPF central vice presidents Hachio Patton and Tsumongo Ovung, NPF central secretary Tsenthungo Ezung, NPF Wokha division advisor Khochamo Murry, president P. Mhonthung Patton, vice president Tachow Lotha, general secretary Ekonthung Kikon, and presidents of all four assembly units under Wokha district.
