Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Executive Council (CEC) emergency meeting was held on July 25 wherein NPF central working president, Huskha Yepthomi lamented that Nagas have elected “unprincipled people” as their representatives who could not remain faithful to the party at this juncture.
A press note NPF central office, media and press bureau stated that Huskha was delivering a presidential address, on behalf of NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu.
Huskha expressed his anguish on the habitual visit of Kaziranga by the Naga MLAs whenever any disagreement emerged, saying it was unbecoming for matured leaders.
He pointed out that this was the third time that Naga MLAs had tried to solve their internal problems at Kaziranga and expressed disgust that the Naga MLAs were huddled into three buses and despatched to one of the infamous Kaziranga resorts after pick-and-choose dinner organised by T. R. Zeliang in his residence in Dimapur.
Huskha said that as a consequence of conducting ULB election in February where two innocent lives were lost had compelled T. R. Zeliang to step down due to public uprising. He further pointed out that the Joint Inquiry Commission set up in the aftermath of the incidents was yet to submit its report. He said T.R. Zeliang should not be the chief minister till the report was submitted and action taken therein.
Huskha further lamented that when Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu has announced that Nagaland Municipal Act would be rewritten, even before the matter had been initiated, T. R. Zeliang took over the chief ministership through “backdoor”.
He termed this as an insult to the people of Nagaland, regretting that the MLAs do not regard such important issues and added that all these “ugly things” took place under the patronage of the Governor of Nagaland, P.B.Acharya.
He reminded the members that suspension and expulsion of some MLAs from NPF Party was the decision taken by the party on the recommendation of the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) in the interest of the party and called upon all the party men and women to remain calm.
