NPMHR conference on Naga issue in Delhi

 Participants seek new interlocutor for Naga talks

A conference, organised by the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) in Delhi on Saturday and attended by parliamentarians, social activists, intellectuals among others sought the appointment of a new interlocutor for the Naga peace talks.

A two-point resolution adopted during the daylong conference “Save The Peace”, to deliberate on the Indo-Naga peace process from its current impasse.

The resolutions proposed by , social activist Sandeep Pandey  and seconded by Advocate Nilesh Ukey was unanimously adopted– that establishing hon’ble peace will be the strongest foundation to secure basic human rights and civil liberties of the Naga people.

And, the house expressed dismay “at the sudden derailment of the peace process, due to the wide trust deficit between the interlocutor Mr. R.N. Ravi and the representatives of the NSCN (I-M).” The meeting maintained that the interlocutor was a mandatory link between the Government of India and NSCN (I-M). “We resolve that in the interest of peace, it is necessary to appoint an interlocutor who will re-establish the trust of the negotiating parties,” the resolution stated. 

MDMK Rajya Sabha member from Tamil Nadu Vaiko, Tamil National Liberation Organization general secretary Thiyagu, Tamil National Movement general secretary K Venkatraman, Editor World Sikh News Jagmohan Singh, Mumbai-based lawyer Nilesh Ukey, social activist and vice president of Socialist Party (UP) Sandeep Pandey were among others who addressed the conference.
