DIMAPUR, JUL 29 (NPN): National People’s Party (NPP) president Conrad K. Sangma has appointed A. Nyamnyei Konyak, MLA, as the leader of NPP Legislature Party in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) with immediate effect.
In an order issued on Tuesday, Sangma said the appointment was made in exercise of the powers vested in the national president under the party’s Constitution and in the interest of strengthening the party’s legislative wing in the Assembly.
With the new appointment, Nuklutoshi, who had been serving as the leader of NPP Legislature Party, has been relieved of the responsibility with immediate effect.
The order also directed all concerned authorities, office bearers and party members to extend full cooperation to Nyamnyei Konyak in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Interim committee: In a separate order, Sangma also constituted an interim state committee for the Nagaland unit with immediate effect to ensure the smooth functioning of the party pending the appointment of a new state president through the prescribed organisational process. The interim committee comprises Chuba Jamir, James Vizo, Audrey Jamir, Eje Wangnyu Konyak and Er. H. Khumtimong Sangtam of the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF).
According to the order, the committee would assist the national working president and the national committee, and carry out responsibilities assigned by the party leadership from time to time. The order stated that the committee will function until a new state president was appointed and would discharge its duties in consultation with the national working president and the national president.
