The National People’s Party (NPP) organised a one-day Capacity Building Training Programme (CBT) on March 7 at the NPP Headquarters, P.A. Sangma Building, Bivar Road, Polo Hills, Shillong, commencing at 10:00 am.
A press release by Media & IPR Cell, NPP Nagaland, stated that the programme aimed to strengthen the organisational framework of the party and enhance the leadership capacity and electoral preparedness of party functionaries from different states.
Representing the NPP Nagaland State Unit at the training programme were K. James Vizo, vice president & chief spokesperson, and Kikokul John Kulnu, State Executive Member.
From the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), Nagaland, Yabang Imchen, NPYF president, and Nokzen Imchen, general secretary, also attended the programme as delegates. Shaan Khiamn, general secretary of NPWF Nagaland, was also part of the Nagaland delegation at the training programme.
The programme began with an opening prayer offered by Sharailang Warjri, state secretary, NPYF, followed by a welcome address and felicitation by Nickey Nongkhlaw, national president of NPYF.
During the morning session, key topics were presented which included, ‘Political Party and Its Basic Structure’ by Paknga Bage, national general secretary (organisation), and ‘Political leadership and its challenges’ by Dr. A. M. Lyngdoh, national secretary.
The sessions highlighted the importance of organisational discipline, leadership values, and the crucial role of political workers in strengthening democratic institutions.
In the afternoon session, Ane-U Khaming, national president of NPWF, delivered an insightful lecture on ‘ Duties, responsibilities and coordination of different organs of the party,’ emphasising teamwork and effective coordination among the various wings of the party.
The final session on ‘Election and election strategies’ was delivered by James P. K. Sangma, national working president, who shared valuable insights on electoral preparedness, grassroots mobilisation, and strategic planning for upcoming elections.
During the interactive session, K. James Vizo, while appreciating the initiative taken by the national leadership in organising the capacity building training programme, suggested that similar programmes may also be organised at the state level in order to further strengthen the party organisation and equip grassroots workers with better understanding of party structure, leadership responsibilities, and election strategies.
The training concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing participants an opportunity to clarify organisational and electoral matters, followed by the vote of thanks.
The NPP Nagaland State Unit expressed its sincere appreciation to the national leadership for organising such a significant capacity-building initiative, which will further strengthen the party structure and enhance the capabilities of party workers across the region.
