Following the merger of NDPP and NPF under the leadership of the chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland state unit has reaffirmed its support to people’s democratic alliance (PDA) government.
In a press release, NPP state unit president A. Nyamnyei Konyak, MLA, extended “full and unconditional support” to the PDA government.
Nyamnyei Konyak described the merger as “a momentous development”, adding it would strengthen regional unity and political stability in the State.
Further, NPP state unit president asserted that PDA government in Nagaland, which is also a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre, represented a collective and cooperative political approach, bridging both regional and national aspirations under a shared vision of peace and development.
He said that NPP “stands firmly” with the state government under the leadership of Dr. Neiphiu Rio “in the larger interest of peace, unity, and an early and honourable political solution”.
Konyak maintained that “this collective spirit of cooperation” sends a clear and positive message to all sections of the people in Nagaland and to the Centre that Nagaland’s political leadership was united in its desire for “lasting peace and a negotiated settlement to the Naga political issue.”
NPP state chief reiterated that the decision to join the opposition-less government was taken in good faith to further the cause of peace, reconciliation, and good governance, and to demonstrate political maturity and solidarity among all stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the NPP state unit reaffirmed its commitment to the shared vision of transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability in governance. The party has appealed to all right-thinking citizens, tribal bodies, church leaders, and civil society organizations to continue supporting the collective journey towards peace, progress, and solution.
NPP state unit maintained that Nagaland, under the continued guidance and leadership of Dr. Neiphiu Rio, would move closer towards lasting peace, accelerated development, and a stronger regional identity within the Indian Union.
