NPP state unit condemns racial attack on North East people

DIMAPUR:

National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland state unit has strongly condemned the recurring incidents of racial discrimination and harassment faced by people from North East region in various parts of the country, describing such acts as deeply disturbing and contrary to the principles of unity, equality, and brotherhood that unite India’s diverse population.
NPP state unit through its media & IPR cell expressed grave concern over a recent racially motivated assault on two individuals from the North East—one from Manipur and another from Assam—who were reportedly attacked by a group of youth while walking in a park near Saket Court in Delhi.
NPP state unit also echoed the strong condemnation by NPP national president and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K. Sangma and highlighted his statement, in which he called upon the authorities to take immediate and stringent action against those responsible.
NPP state unit vice president and chief spokesperson K. James Vizo also reiterated that racial discrimination against people from the North East continued to be a serious issue that demanded firm and resolute action.
He appealed to the responsible authorities and law enforcement agencies to take prompt and strict measures to curb such discriminatory incidents and safeguard the safety, dignity, and rights of all citizens, particularly those from the North East.
Further, the party stressed the urgent need to enhance awareness about the rich history, vibrant culture, and significant contributions of North East region across the country. It suggested incorporating greater emphasis on North East region in school curricula and national awareness programmes to promote better understanding, mutual respect, and reduce stereotypes.
Underscoring that India’s true strength lies in its diversity, NPP unit called upon all sections of society to collaborate in building an inclusive nation founded on respect, harmony, and equality.
