National People’s Party (NPP) national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said Nagaland is undergoing rapid political changes, calling it a critical phase.
He encouraged party members to strengthen grassroots engagement and stay closely connected with the people, stating, “A party can only grow if you are connected with the people.”
Sangma was addressing the Nagaland State Executive Committee meeting of the NPP held at Hotel Japfu, Kohima on June 27. He said while national parties are weakening and regional parties are falling short of expectations, there is a unique opportunity for the NPP to emerge as a strong voice from the Northeast.
He acknowledged the challenges of party-building in complex local political environments but noted that the NPP has made significant strides through patience, hard work, and commitment. He said that NPP remains the only party from the Northeast to receive national party status.
Earlier in the programme, NPP State president and MLA A. Nyamnyei Konyak delivered the welcome address. Pastor Jemmy Meitei of NST Covenant Mission Church, Kohima, led the invocation, and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Kevisetuo Kintso, president, NPP Kohima district.
