NPRAAF responds to parl secy’s clarification

While responding to the clarification made parliamentary secretary, Tourism, C. Apok Jamir, the Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) said it was surprised by the statement made by the parliamentary secretary in connection with the outcome of the meeting between the latter and NPRAAF members on July 27 in Kohima.
In a press note, NPRAAF information and publicity cell said that during the meeting with the parliamentary secretary at his office chambers, one of its members “loudly and clearly read out the MoU point-by-point as proposed by NPRAAF”.
NPRAAF claimed that the parliamentary secretary “did not raise any objection to any of the points and said he agreed with the proposals”.
NPRAAF said it failed to understand as to how, parliamentary secretary for Tourism, “who agreed to the proposals in front of six NPRAAF members, could suddenly retract his statement thereby causing breach of trust upon himself”.
It however, said NPRAAF was willing to discuss any “uncomfortable points for the parliamentary secretary through threadbare consultation and not through limited spaces in the local dailies”.
Tourism department: A press release issued by the Tourism department, stated that members of NPRAAF met and submitted a memorandum to the parliamentary secretary Tourism, C. Apok Jamir on July 27 at Kohima and apprised him on the various issues that were highlighted.
It said that the meeting was healthy, warm with constructive discussion on the points raised, for which the parliamentary secretary had assured to look into the merits of each issue raised in the memorandum.
