DIMAPUR: Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) held Induction cum Thanksgiving Programme at Premier Lodge, 4th Mile, Agri Expo, Chümoukedima, on Saturday, marking the assumption of office by its newly elected leadership.
The programme was preceded by a Victory Rally from the residence of Nagavito Sumi, senior leader NPCC, PCC member from Ghaspani I and advisor NPYC, which culminated at the venue.
The event had originally been planned around the visit of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president Uday Bhanu Chib, who was scheduled to arrive at Dimapur Airport and participate in the rally and programme. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, Chib could not attend, and the programme proceeded as scheduled.
Addressing the solidarity session, C. Apok Jamir, working president NPCC, described the occasion as timely amid challenges facing the state and the country.
He emphasised the responsibility of citizens, particularly youth, in safeguarding democratic and constitutional values, urging vigilance against aggression, atrocities and unconstitutional practices.
Formally assuming office as NPYC president, Herole Y. said he was taking up the responsibility “to serve, to listen, and to understand,” while seeking to connect with the youth of Nagaland. He observed that a stronger generation of Naga youth was emerging but highlighted the lack of platforms, facilities and employment opportunities. Calling upon youth to move beyond complacency, he urged them to participate actively in public affairs and raise concerns directly with the government, particularly on issues of opportunities, employment, privileges and skill development.
The programme also witnessed the formal presentation of appointment letters to the District Youth Congress presidents (elected), in the presence of NPYC leadership and Congress functionaries.
Earlier, the welcome address cum presentation was delivered by Longme Konyak, designated vice president NPYC, while the vote of thanks was offered by Izwagong S. Sanding, designated general secretary NPYC. A special performance was presented by Lucy Anar, and the programme concluded with a benediction by Rovi Wazah, designated advisor NPYC.
