NQAS assessment conducted at Chukitong PHC

The National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) external assessment for certification was conducted at Chukitong Primary Health Centre (PHC), Wokha, on June 27 and 28.
The assessment was carried out by Senior Medical Officer, RNB Civil Hospital Kokrajhar, Assam, Dr. Zunikar Ali, and Quality Head, Bhagwati Hospital, New Delhi, Dr. Ira Jain.
According to a press release from the CMO Office, Wokha, a brief profile of the health centre was presented by Medical Officer, Chukitong PHC, Dr. Wobenthung Kithan. He provided details on manpower status, infrastructure, services, and facilities available at the health centre.
Dr. Kithan also expressed gratitude to civil society leaders of Chukitong for their continuous support during the preparation for the NQAS assessment.
Dr. Ira Jain stated that NQAS was not a fault-finding assessment, but rather a fact-based evaluation comparing parameters. She urged staff cooperation and described the assessment as an open-book exam, conducted according to the NQAS checklist. The National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi, aimed at improving the quality of health services in public health facilities. It covers areas such as service provision, patient rights, infection control, and quality management.
